Saturday Oct. 31, 2009. Helmar stayed in SJ to do bike maintenance. We started our six hour ride to the Caribbean near the port of Limon. The first leg of the trip was very windy going through coffee plantations and I became dizzy. We had to stop in a town for a rest. Betty had a good time helping me buy some soccer shirts. CR for her son, Argentina for me...and of course I just had to get the German team to “keep the peace”. As we headed towards the Caribbean the topography changed. Coffee plantations were replaced by banana plantations, houses were built on stilts, and overall there was more of a “less orderly” appearance to everything than what we had previous experienced. We were hot, dehydrated and desperate to find a reasonable place to sleep. All that we wanted to do was to get out of our gear and head into the waves. Eventually I found a wonderful resort and talked the receptionist down to $55. We had a relaxing evening enjoying some white wine, eating pasta, and listening to the jungle sounds. We fell asleep very early.
Here is another photo collection of the place we stayed and some of the food we eat !
