Baqueadero - Train cementary

Better than Uyuni !!!

I was feeling bad that I had not crossed into Bolivia. I had heard too many horror stories and did not want to risk my bike to make a visit to Uyuni to see a train cemetery. My concerns were confirmed when I met Rick and Emily. They had been to Bolivia but to get to Uyuni they averaged only 12 km an hour. It took them 3 days and they dropped the bike 12 times. They compared both the train cemeteries in Chili and Bolivia...and there was no comparison.

I went to the train cemetery Baqueadero in Chili. It was exciting because the machines are well conserved. There is still a machinery shop with the circlular track for turning the trains around. It was a great playground!
