We decided to do another long ride today beause we had to ride across the desert in northern Peru. The road hugs the coast line and the wind is unbearable. You have to constantly lean your bike into the wind. Passing trucks was a dangerous manouver. You have to change lanes way before arriving at the truck and the turbulence when passing is extremely strong. Two of the riders almost had an accident because it was so difficult to maintain control of the bikes. Unfortunately, one of the riders had a bad situation. Afterwards, he was no longer able to pass trucks.
Another dangerous factor was the sand dunes where the wind combined with the strong sun, hits all your exposed areas like hands and face.
A funny thing was the towns situated at little oasis of green pastures. Once you pass them, you are back into the desert.
We arrived in Lima after a 700 km ride.
